IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT from the NZEUG COMMITTEE

Firstly, on behalf of the NZEUG Committee I’d like to thank you all for your membership and continued support. We have had another fantastic year and are now preparing for another National Conference. Once again we have managed to organise 13 Regional events early in March/April which were attended by just over 600 people making them collectively the largest GIS related event in NZ. Thank you especially to those of you who presented and shared your story with attendees.

Secondly, I’d like to formally invite you all to the 2018 NZ ESRI Users Group Annual General Meeting. The AGM will be held on Tuesday 21st August 2018 at 2:00pm in NZ3&4 Rooms, Sky City Convention Centre, Auckland. We do hope that you can attend.

This AGM heralds some important milestones for the committee after a very busy year, as we wish to present you all with proposed changes to our Constitution and also proposals around changes to the current Membership structure.

The proposed changes are in the following documents:

Thirdly, I’d like to ask you all for Nominations for Life Membership of NZEUG. Currently only one person (Kim Ollivier) is a Life Member of the group. Nominations can be sent directly to the NZEUG Secretary via email secretary@nzeug.org. Simply include NZEUG Life Membership as the Subject of the email, and then supply the name of the person you are nominating and the reason you believe they are a suitable candidate. Please also include your name and contact details for inclusion in the AGM minutes. All or any nominations will be included in the AGM agenda and a seconder will be sought for the nomination. Once seconded the nomination will be voted on by those in attendance. A majority vote supporting the nomination will see the candidate accepted and Life Membership approved.

Fourth on this list of topics is Nominations for NZEUG Committee positions. Again please send your nominations directly to the NZEUG Secretary via email secretary@nzeug.org. Simply include NZEUG Committee Membership as the Subject of the email, and then supply the name of the person you are nominating and the reason you believe they are a suitable candidate. Please also include your name and contact details for inclusion in the AGM minutes. All or any nominations will be included in the AGM agenda and a seconder will be sought for the nomination. Once seconded the nomination will be voted on by those in attendance. A majority vote supporting the nomination will see the candidate accepted and Committee Membership approved.

Finally, we would like you all to attend the AGM well prepared for these very important discussions, please familiarise yourselves with the proposed changes to the Constitution and Membership structure. It is the current committees opinion that the current Membership structure is not fit for purpose and does not set us well for the future.

If you have any questions beforehand please feel free to contact me directly at chairperson@nzeug.org. I hope that you are all open to the proposals attached and I eagerly look forward to open discussion on these items at the AGM with the aim of reaching an agreed resolution. We are also keen to hear your thoughts on some proposed new ventures which we believe will provide more value to you as NZEUG Members.

Also, feel free to contact us via our website www.nzeug.org or simply send us an email at contact@nzeug.org.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to seeing you all at the AGM.
