Forestry technical services

We are seeking a GIS specialist with Spatial Analysis skills to join our digital data team.  This is an opportunity to join a small and innovative team focused on providing our customers with the latest UAV imagery, geospatial data and mapping. Your key responsibilities for this role will include:

Interpreting aerial photography and using ESRIs ArcGIS suite to map land blocks for a variety of clients, primarily forestry, including harvest planning, ETS applications and inventory plots.
Using Arc Spatial Analysis toolbox for raster processing to contours, slope analysis, hydrology modelling, etc., and expand the GIS use of the point cloud data collected by the UAV including image classification and interpretation.
Working with the UAV operator as necessary, both in the field and post processing.
Identifying and developing effective cartographic products to meet customer needs.
Working independently to build and sustain positive working relationships with customers –  problem solving and critical thinking on a daily basis.

The successful applicant will ideally hold a relevant tertiary qualification and have experience in GIS or a related field. A broad knowledge of GIS theory and applications needed to deliver superior business solutions is also required. Excellent customer service and communication skills are key requirements of the role.  Experience in the forestry industry would be an advantage but not essential.

We offer potential candidates the opportunity to work as part of a close and motivated team in New Zealand’s sunniest location. You will have the opportunity to get away from the desk and out into the forest on occasions so a love of the outdoors is essential.
