As a Geospatial Specialist, you will support the continual improvement, scope and management of the geospatial data, systems and processes in the Auckland Council GIS team. A key aspect of your role will be working with the GIS team and Auckland Council stakeholders to identify areas for improvement in the data sets and systems. You will also assist with a variety of projects while continually providing operational support to the Geospatial and ICT business units.
On the technical side, you have a Tertiary Level Qualification (Bachelor Degree minimum) preferably in Geospatial Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Management, Remote Sensing or extensive relevant business experience. You will have ESRI and Safe Software (FME) experience and be confident using ArcGIS desktop and extensions. Ideally, you will also have experience in web GIS and the creation of web maps and web applications (ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Portal or other). Finally, you have sound knowledge of New Zealand projections, datums and core datasets.
Personality wise, you will be highly customer focused, confident talking about geospatial solutions and dedicated to providing the best outcomes possible to our customers. You will also be proactive in leading innovations and improvements that benefit the team or our customers.
