For over 45 years Pan Pac has been growing, processing and delivering quality radiata products to national and international markets. With a permanent workforce of over 400 staff, we recognise our people are our most valuable asset and in doing so, we aim to develop and retain highly skilled staff.

We currently have an opportunity for a GIS Specialist to join our Forests Division. This role doesn’t come up often at Pan Pac, so if it fits within your area of expertise, now is the time to join us!

The purpose of the GIS Specialist role is to manage the Esri ArcGIS applications and associated spatial data for Pan Pac. You’ll ensure the system is configured to meet the ongoing needs of the business and the quality of the information is being maintained to a high standard – in turn, this ensures we’re achieving our regulatory requirements and business objectives.

You’ll use your skills in combination with ArcGIS to analyse and visualise spatial data and deliver services that provide meaningful insight for our business.

To be successful in this role you’ll need the following:

  • Preferably a tertiary qualification in GIS
  • Extensive knowledge of cartography
  • Be a power user of ESRI ArcGIS desktop, some exposure to ArcPro would be desirable while having a good understanding of the associated Esri ecosystem of applications
  • Good knowledge of ESRI ArcSDE and the Microsoft SQL server environment
  • Experience managing LiDAR and Metadata
  • Proficient in Esri Model Builder and Python Scripting
  • Experience in the use of ATLAS GeoMaster
  • Good understanding of Remote Sensing and Aerial Photography technologies

While previous Forestry experience would be helpful, it’s not essential. We have an excellent handover period available to ensure you’ve got everything you need to make this role a success.

This is a permanent position working flexible hours – Monday to Friday, 8am to 4.30pm. We can offer relocation assistance and an attractive remuneration package.
